About the Workshop

In the ever-evolving landscape of research and data analysis, meta-analysis has emerged as a pivotal tool, enabling researchers to synthesize findings from multiple studies and draw more comprehensive conclusions. This methodology, integral to evidence-based practices, combines data from separate but similar studies, increasing statistical power and providing more robust answers to research questions. Given its increasing importance across various disciplines including medicine, psychology, education, and environmental science, understanding meta-analysis is crucial for researchers, academicians, and practitioners.

Despite its significance, the concept and methodologies of meta-analysis remain complex and often misunderstood. This workshop is designed to demystify meta-analysis, offering participants a clear and practical understanding of its processes and applications.

Objectives

The primary objective of this workshop is to provide attendees with a thorough grounding in the principles and practices of meta-analysis. Through this workshop, participants will:

Understand the Fundamentals: Grasp the basic concepts of meta-analysis, including its history, importance, and where it fits within the broader spectrum of research methodologies.

Learn Methodologies: Gain knowledge about different meta-analytic techniques, data aggregation methods, heterogeneity assessment, and interpretation of results.

Apply Practical Skills: Develop practical skills for conducting a meta-analysis through hands-on exercises and case studies, focusing on formulating research questions, literature search, data extraction, and statistical analysis.

Address Common Challenges: Identify and learn how to overcome common challenges and pitfalls in conducting and interpreting meta-analyses.

Explore Applications: Understand the application of meta-analysis in various fields, appreciating its role in influencing policy, guiding research, and informing practice.

By the end of this workshop, participants will not only understand what meta-analysis is and how it works but also be equipped with the knowledge and skills to apply this powerful tool in their respective fields effectively.
